Chilly Day Warmer – Hot Dates and Ginger Tea

For chilly winter days in Hong Kong (translation – days when I don’t use the AC), I like to add a waft of warmth with hot teas.  We’ve recently fell in love with a tea made from syrupy dates, and have been brewing it almost every day at home.

I like to add a few slices of muddled ginger to each cup to add that little extra je ne sais quoi .  The spicy notes of the ginger make this drink feel like something you’d get served at the spa, which is always a good thing in my book!

First, muddle a few slices of ginger in a glass to extract all that lovely spicy juices.

Add the syrupy date preserve – I like to use a tablespoon for each glass.  I bought the date preserve from Park N’Shop, it’s a Korean brand and you can find it in most supermarkets.

Mix with hot water and enjoy!  It tastes good, and is also good for you!

Bon Appetit!
